Destination: Miami

I want to go here sooo bad.

The fabulous Viceroy Hotel in Miami,
beautifully designed by Kelly Wearstler is a must see.

Take a look:

how awesome is that yellow chandelier??

a close up of the japanese-inspired custom curtains

love the cool color palette

nice view

pops of bright colors mixed with the emphasis on clean lines and geometrics makes the space more loose and funky

the lattice work separates the bedroom from the living area--another japanese influence

overall, the bright colors and funky furnishings of the Viceroy make it one of the hottest hotels in Miami. Wearstler brilliantly mixes classic design with modern and Asian inspiration with Western flair.
I will definitely be planning a visit ASAP!

The Mansion of a Princess...literally

On Friday and Monday I had the privillege of working at the mansion that Dan from Gilded Manor has been working on for the past year. The princess is scheduled to move in this week so we had to get everything perfect.
My job was steaming all of the window treatments.
Glamorous, I know but it was an amazing opportunity just to be in the house...it was absolutely gorgeous. Hands down the most luxurious home I have ever been in and probably ever will go to. Dan's window treatments were absolutely breathtaking. Pictures were not allowed. (of course) but I've included some of the fabulous furnishings.
The whole house was done in a very neutral and muted color palette with all of the walls and ceilings in a beautiful venetian plaster of varying shades and textures.

something like this:

The down stairs level was completely furnished in Fendi furniture and textiles--very swanky lounge-like feel. Fendi even makes patio furniture, including flower pots! who knew?

kitchen studio by Fendi in crocodile leather

Most of the furniture on the top 2 levels is by Baker in a very classical yet contemporary style. The greek key was repeated throughout several rooms and the pool deck even had a greek key drainage trough.

this bed was used in the master bedroom
with a tv that slides out from under the bed. custom design of course.
the wall behind the bed featured a fabulous fabric grid of silk covered diamonds designed by dan

I so wish I could inclued photos!!! :(

This faucet by Grohe was in the master bath. note the crystal handles!!!

Every single room had fabulous light fixtures
...mostly crystal chandeliers from Ebanista

some art and accessories by z gallerie...one of my new favorite companies

So sad I can't post photos, but just try to picture the most luxurious home you can imagine

....and then its 10 times nicer :)

Living the Life

So I have finally arrived in Washington D.C. for my internship and this:

is my room.

I'm in love. It is even more beautiful in person.
Gorgeous metallic Thibaut wallcovering.
Trinkets from estate sales.
Custom headboard and window treatments.
love. love. love.

BIG thanks to Robin Prior of Gilded Manor,
whom I will be interning with for the next 3 weeks.
I am so excited to be working with her and
learning every single bit of knowledge I can soak up in such a short time.
But just living in this room is inspirational enough, don't ya think?

"I think interior design is art you can live in." --Alexandra Angle.

I love how open and airy this space feels.
The hues of blue are wonderful.
And the design is simple yet oh so charming.
